‘Spellbinding’, ‘compelling’, ‘ingenious’…Alister Spence, long recognised as one of Australia’s finest and most original pianists/composers in improvised music, Alister returns to the UK and Europe in February 2011. He will reunite for this tour of UK, Sweden, Norway with Joseph Williamson (Tobias Delius Quartet) and Christopher Cantillo. The trio first met and performed last year in Sweden and at the Vilnius Jazz Festival.
Special guest, Daniel Rorke will join them in Norway.
Originally from Australia, Daniel is based in Trondheim and tours regularly in Europe and the US. He has established himself as a strong and distinctive voice in the Norwegian jazz and improvising scene. His recent recording entitled San’an features the drummer from the Norwegian group The Source, Per Oddvar Johansen, and Icelandic guitarist Hilmar Jensson.
This dynamic quartet explores music that blends texture, soundscape and improvisation, while still delivering strong melody and interplay that are hallmarks of Alister Spence’s collaborations.
