Norad and Nordic Black Theatre have the pleasure of inviting you to celebrate International Women’s Day through a session titled “Bono, Books and Benevolence (in development aid)”
Abidemi Sanusi, a former human rights worker with expertise in gender and conflict in West Africa, now turned author is in Oslo to mark International Women’s Day. She will be talking about her latest novel , ‘Looking for Bono’ – her fierce, honest and sparkling satire on development aid and celebrity. She’s not afraid to challenge and provoke the status quo, is up for a good laugh and invites us to ask any questions we might have – whether on water, gender, geopolitics, corruption or Bono.
This satirical novel peels back the layers of the insulated world of international development. Through its engaging plot and unforgettable characters, notably Munira, the resilient aspiring Nollywood actress, readers are compelled to confront uncomfortable truths about the current state of international development practices.’Looking for Bono’ draws heavily from her personal experiences as a human rights worker navigating the complexities of gender and conflict in West Africa.
We’re looking forward to engaging in meaningful dialogue about all things big and small.
The format will follow a reading by the author, a
fireside chat and moderation by Norad’s Head of Gender Equality, Ritika Dhall.
This event will be held in English, at Nordic Black Theatre.
