Artist statement
I am an artist who has portraits as my main vehicle. And this is why:
We are so deeply inter-connected on this planet; and never more so than now. Yet, there are so many powerful forces that try to divide and concur. Any effort to bring us together and connect us, no matter how small … I will embrace. Of all forces, art and music is some of the most powerful, because it transcends barriers of language and culture and backgrounds and goes straight to the heart.
So my embracement of this effort to unite us is my drawings. Music and art MOVES me. The artists themselves MOVES me. Often it gives me the urge to draw what I experience. Then I want to share it, so hopefully you can get moved too.
Sometimes I draw «live»; – mostly I draw from photos and videos.
I stumbled upon the printed papers by coincidence (- or maybe not!?) It was a very exiting discovery, and it added a different dimension to my portraits when I managed to make the drawing lines and the paper patterns play together… sometimes it gives a certain «flow», as if the drawing itself is music or dance..
This «flow» or «vibe» is what I´m after, whether I draw on this special paper or on regular drawing paper. I want it to MOVE and I want it to MOVE you.
